Oregon football live updates: No. 13 Ducks face Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at Autzen Stadium (2024)

After a thrilling, come-from-behind victory against Texas Tech last weekend, the No. 13 Oregon football team will take on Hawaii at 5 p.m. Saturday at Autzen Stadium.

The game is the Ducks' final nonconference matchup before opening Pac-12 play against Colorado in Eugene next weekend.

Hawaii (1-2) is coming into Saturday's game after beating Albany 31-20. The Rainbow Warriors have also lost to Stanford, 37-24, and Vanderbilt, 35-28.

Oregon (2-0) beat Portland State, 81-7, in Week 1 and Texas Tech, 38-30, last Saturday.

Oregon football vs. Hawaii game day analysis and notes

4 p.m.: Kickoff time is set

Kickoff for the Oregon football game vs. Hawaii is set for 5:12 p.m. at Autzen Stadium.

4:15 p.m.: Ducks take the field

The Ducks, clad in green helmets, green jerseys, and yellow pants, took the field at Autzen Stadium ahead of their matchup against the Rainbow Warriors.

Receiver Kris Hutson participated in pregame warmups after not traveling with Oregon last week when the Ducks played in Lubbock against Texas Tech. The junior has yet to play a snap for the Ducks this year after dressing Week 1 against Portland State, but not playing.

Linebacker Jestin Jacobs and offensive lineman Nishad Strother did not dress for the third consecutive week. Neither player has seen game action in 2023. Defensive lineman Tevita Pome'e was also not seen warming up pregame.

5:12 p.m.: Kickoff

Oregon game captains were kicker Camden Lewis, offensive lineman Faaope Laloulu, defensive lineman Taki Taimani, and linebacker Jamal Hill. The Ducks won the coin toss and elected to defer to the second half. Temperature at kickoff was 85 degrees and sunny.

5:16 p.m.: Ducks score first

It could be a long day for Hawaii. Oregon needed just two plays to go 59-yards as Bo Nix completed a 49-yard TD pass to receiver Tez Johnson as the Ducks take a 7-0 lead at the 14:02 mark of the first quarter.

5:23 p.m.: Oregon leads 10-0

Camden Lewis kicks a 43-yard field goal with 13:15 to play in the first quarter. The scoring drive was set up by an interception by Khyree Jackson.

5:36 p.m.: Lead grows to 17-0

Running back Jordan James scores on a 22-yard run to the right pylon as the Ducks extend their advantage to 17-0 with 5:52 to play in the first quarter.

First quarter update: Oregon leads 24-0 after 15 minutes

What happened: Bo Nix tossed two TD passes and Jordan James rushed for a third as the Ducks took a 24-0 lead.

The big play: Tez Johnson caught a 49-yard bomb from Bo Nix 58 seconds into the game as the Ducks went up 7-0.

Momentum swing: The Ducks converted twice on fourth downs on their final scoring drive, including a 41-yard run to the Hawaii 3 by Noah Whittington on fourth-and-1.

Beyond the boxscore: Receiver Tez Johnson has caught a pass in 36 straight games, tied for sixth-longest active streak in the NCAA.

6:05 p.m.: Oregon opens second quarter with a TD

Jordan James rushed for his second score of the game as his 3-yard TD run puts the Ducks up 31-0 with 12:01 to play in the first half.

Halftime: Oregon leads Hawaii 34-3

What happened: Oregon outscored Hawaii 10-3 to take a 34-3 lead into halftime

The big play: Gary Bryant Jr. had a 31-yard catch that put the ball into the red zone and the Ducks scored three plays later to go up 31-0.

Momentum swing: Hawaii missed a 34-yard field goal as time expired in the half but a penalty on Oregon gave the Rainbow Warriors a second shot from 29 yards and kicker Matthew Shipley converted.

7:11 p.m.: Ducks get first score of third quarter

Bo Nix threw his third TD pass and second to receiver Tez Johnson as they combined on a 12-yard score at the 11:30 mark of the third quarter to put Oregon up 41-3.

7:20 p.m.: Ty Thompson replaces Bo Nix

The Ducks have made a quarterback change with Ty Thompson replacing Bo Nix on the Ducks' second drive of the third quarter and leading 41-3. Nix finishes the game 21-for-27 passing for 247 yards and three TDs.

Third quarter recap: Oregon leads 48-3

What happened: Oregon outscored Hawaii 14-0 to take a 48-3 lead.

The big play: Running back Noah Whittington scored on a 34-yard TD run near the end of the quarter.

Momentum swing: Wide receiver Tez Johnson caught his second TD pass of the night on a 12-yard reception at the start of the third as the Ducks kept rolling up points.

Beyond the boxscore: Quarterback Ty Thompson replaced Bo Nix after the Ducks’ opening drive.

7:57 p.m.: Second unit keeps offense rolling

Wide receiver Traeshon Holden took a pass from Ty Thompson 60 yards for the score as the Ducks took a 55-7 lead with 7:46 to play in the game.

Final: Oregon 55, Hawaii 10

The Ducks improve to 3-0 with a win in the last game of their nonconference schedule. Next up is the Pac-12 opener against No. 18 Colorado in Autzen Stadium at 12:30 p.m. next Saturday.
